Over 3000 Veterans live in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre; the largest concentration of veterans in Lancashire. At different times in life we all need help with everyday issues and if you are a carer of an aged veteran you may need different kinds of support to make life better.
Age UK Lancashire is launching a new Forces & Families project in Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre funded by the Armed Forces Covenant Fund to support families and carers of older veterans where we will be on hand for up to 12 weeks. We aim to encourage and empower carers to add tools to their toolbox to help make changes in their lives to improve their own personal wellbeing which indirectly will also support the veteran they care for.
Aged veterans may have additional or different needs and many ex-service men and women prefer to talk to other veterans as opposed to their loved ones around them. Other veterans are more likely to understand without explanation what it is like to see active service or be part of a military unit. We can help identify options for the older veteran to in turn support the carer identify their own specific requirements. We will concentrate our efforts on the people around the veteran to help build their support mechanisms concentrating on their own personal needs.
We are seeking a flexible, solutions-focussed candidate to support this unique service, working alongside a Service Coordinator helping to recruit support volunteers based in our Fylde office. Responsible for the setting up of recording and recording systems alongside administrative processes ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery. You will contribute to ensuring targets are met sharing your ideas and skills to support maximising the reach of the service to further meet the needs of carers of Veterans. The successful applicant will have a commitment to the delivery of a meaningful service and an understanding the importance of considering individual needs.
