Keep Safe Places

31 March 2016

Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland is supporting the ‘Keep Safe Places’ initiative to provide a safe haven for people feeling in need of reassurance and help whilst out shopping.

There will be a total of 178 “keep safe places” in busy shopping areas across the county where people feeling vulnerable, upset, scared or distressed can go should they need a place to sit down or help contacting a friend or relative to collect them.

Set up in Age UK shops, libraries, stores, and businesses, all Keep Safe Places will be signposted by door stickers displayed at participating locations. The full list of participating locations is available on Leicestershire County Council’s Keep Safe Places webpage.

The scheme has been developed by Leicestershire County Council with support from the police and local community groups.
