If you are a UK tax payer, you can Gift Aid your donation which means that for every £1 raised through the sale of your donated goods in our shops or through your fundraising, we can claim an extra 25p in Gift Aid from the government. In order to do this, you need to have paid at least 25p UK income tax or capital gains tax for each £1 raised. If you have not paid tax to this level you may be liable to pay the shortfall of tax to HM Revenue and Customs, so if your circumstances change you will need to let us know. Please note that council tax and VAT are not relevant taxes for Gift Aid purposes.
To register for Gift Aid, please complete a Gift Aid declaration form. You can do this by asking in our shops for the form when you donate goods. If you have already registered for Gift Aid on your donations to our shops you will receive a letter each quarter advising you of the amount that your donations have raised. You can receive this notification by email rather than letter by completing your details here. Switching to email notification will reduce our administration and postage costs and ensure that more of the funds you have helped raise are spent directly on our services for older people.
