We love to use social media to spread the word about Age UK Lincoln and Kesteven and attract new supporters, we need a helping hand from a creative person to build our online presence.

Your main responsibility will be monitoring and updating our social media pages with the aim of increasing engagement and followers. If you have a bit more free time we also need help in creating promotional materials, writing press releases and updating our website. For people with design skills we have several projects to get stuck into including designing our annual review.

We’re a small friendly team with a great history of developing volunteers, we’re here to help you get the most out of your volunteering role, and will offer you professional support and development opportunities.

Responsibilities (depending on skills and experience)

 Creating and scheduling posts for our various social media platforms including;

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

 Creating engaging text, image and video content that will make an impact and

increase online engagement

 Improve our social media presence by expanding our use of social media platforms (eg Pinterest, etc.)

 Writing and editing blogs and positive stories and case studies, as well as communications and PR press releases and external communications.

 Prepare monthly E-Newsletter

 Prepare materials to promote events (leaflets, posters, etc.)

Skills and experience required

The ideal candidate for this role will be energetic, inventive, hardworking, social media and web savvy, and brimming with ideas about creative ways to engage audiences with Age UK Lincoln and Kesteven’s mission.

While assisting with a wide range of projects volunteers will gain hands on experience and support in many areas of communications and the charity sector.


• Good command of the English language

• Good writing, editing and proof reading skills

• Good IT skills with experience in social media platforms and Microsoft Office

• Experience of utilising social media in a professional environment

• Proactive approach

• Ability to work independently

• Willingness to learn

• Attention to detail


• Graphic design skills

• Knowledge of marketing and advertising theories and practices

• Experience of volunteering/working in the charity sector
