Volunteering Criteria

Befriending service

Providing companionship for older, lonely and housebound people to improve and fulfil their social life within their own home. Our trained volunteers will provide regular contact on a day and time that suits you.

Remote Telephone Befriending service

A free of charge telephone support scheme to relieve loneliness and isolation. This telephone service will provide regular contact on a set time and day offering conversation and friendship. The calls will be made from your own home or office, making this a fantastic role for those who have limited time available or who may have mobility problems.

Primary Care Navigators

The Primary Care Navigator is a non-clinical service, delivered within the Lincolnshire West CCG for patients who are registered with a GP surgery in that area, and focuses on the individual and their needs rather than the service they want to access or the condition(s) they have. The PCN’s support patients to ‘navigate’ their way around health, social care and voluntary services.  They will provide information, support care coordination, reduce social isolation, and improve planned take up of services. Primary Care Navigators are Age UK Lincoln staff members visiting people in their own homes or GP surgeries.  Support is also provided by telephone. They offer one-to-one time-limited support to frailer patients and their Carers, either in the surgery, by telephone or in the person’s home. They can support patients including those who present with complex physical and/or mental health needs and/or are isolated, and are making either heavier than expected demands on the NHS or need support for non-clinical matters.

Our volunteers will be to assist their assigned PCN member of staff in their role. This will include helping with shopping, activities, clubs, voluntary services etc. Attending medical appointments with the service user may also be part of the role.

Front of House Support – Saturdays

Our volunteers provide a welcoming environment to the “Lincoln Armed Forces Breakfast Club” on a fortnightly basis. Answering phone calls, dealing with enquiries and have a good natter with the visitors. There is a possibility that this will become a weekly role in the future.
