Maria Miles Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire Carer
After considering a return to nursing I was so impressed with the training and the care certificate here that I decided not to go back to nursing and stay with Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire.
Providing personal care is only part of the job, it also involves engaging with our elders and finding out what is going on in their world.
I feel very valued and supported in my role. I love that we are a very person centred organisation and a small team. We do not go rushing in and have to do the care in 15-minute slots, We deliver a good service and have the time to also chat with the service user, which is so important.
It is very rewarding to be able to help our elders remain in their own homes for as long as possible in a safe and happy atmosphere.

It has always been in my nature to be caring. I just wanted to do a job where I would make a difference to people's lives, enabling them to live as independently as possible in their homes.
I had worked as a teaching assistant and was new to care, I had no training or care experience previously but was welcomed by the team at Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire and I was then able to learn as I worked.
The most rewarding part of my work is knowing I have made that difference to older peoples lives. For some people we may be the only person they see regularly and look forward to seeing us.
I just genuinely love working in care with Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire - Every day is different

I have worked for Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire for over 5 years. I worked in care for 11 years before that, a natural caring person I love my job.
Knowing that we make a difference to someone's life is everything. Helping support them in their own home to stay independent for as long as they can. I would say to anyone who is considering working in care for Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire to go for it. We get all the training and support we need. It is such a rewarding job.
Janet - Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire Carer
I started working for Age UK Lincoln & South Lincolnshire in February 2020. I chose to work in care as it is a very satisfying and rewarding job. I love being able to visit people in their own homes, which enables them to stay where they want to be. Everyone is very appreciative of everything you do for them, and it's a nice feeling knowing that what you do every day, even the smallest things make such a big difference to their lives and well being. To anyone looking to move into a care role I would say that if you enjoy meeting and talking to people, whilst making a positive difference to their lives then join our team.
