Local Age UKs

There is a local Age UK working in almost every London borough, providing services ranging from information and advice, healthy living services, financial brokerage and much more. To find out about the services offered in your local area please contact your local Age UK directly using the Local Age UKs menu above.

Age UK

Age Concern England and Help the Aged are now Age UK, the largest charity working for older people in the UK. We work with Age UK to support national campaigns on a London regional level and to share regional knowledge and expertise. You can find out more about the national charity and what they do on the Age UK website.

Older People’s Forums

Older People’s Forums are local groups comprised of individuals and organisations working with and for older people in London. There is a Forum in every London borough and the aim of the forums is to support, guide and empower older Londoners to participate in their local decision making process.

Local forums act as part of local strategic frameworks to represent the needs of older Londoners and are supported in doing this by the Greater London Forum for Older People, a pan-London umbrella organisation.

BAME Forums

London’s older people are very diverse in their cultures, faiths and lifestyles. The Greater London Authority expects that the number of London pensioners who are from black and minority ethnic (BME communities will rise to 21% by 2016 and 25% by 2021. Age UK London works with local community groups who represent different race and faith groups in London to support their work and involve them in our campaigning and influencing activity.

Age Concern City of London

Age Concern City of London (ACCoL) is the new charity for older people in the Square Mile, providing help, support, and new opportunities – for learning, volunteering, socialising, and enhancing health and wellbeing. Of the 7600 people living in the Square Mile, 1100 are over 65. ACCoL want to work with, not just for, older people, to achieve a vision of a City which is as healthy, happy, inclusive and age friendly as it can be.

Opening Doors London

Opening Doors London is a partnership project involving Age UK Camden as lead agency with Age UKs in Hackney, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster. Opening Doors London aims to specifically meet the needs of older lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) communities and is aimed at men and women who identify as LGBT and are over the age of 50.

The Mayor’s Office and London Councils

Age UK London works with the regional and local governing bodies in London to ensure that older people’s voices are heard and the issues which are important to them are included in the wider debate. We represent the voices of Age UKs and older Londoners on a regional level. London Councils is also a key funder of Age UK London’s work.

London Voluntary Service Council (LVSC)

LVSC represents, champions and enhances London's diverse voluntary and community sector.
