You could double your donation to Age UK Norfolk!

We are delighted to be participating in this year’s Big Give Christmas Challenge which will be launched on Giving Tuesday (28th November) and encourages people to donate to our Telephone Befriending service, with the opportunity to have their donation doubled when they donate online between 28th November and 5th December.

All money raised will benefit the Age UK Norfolk Telephone Befriending service, which offers people aged 60 and over companionship by phone with a local volunteer via a weekly chat which can help alleviate feelings of loneliness and isolation. The service supported over 230 people in Norfolk in 2016-2017 with 7,644 hours of telephone calls. One member said, “The Telephone Befriending service is lovely. It is so nice knowing someone is out there contacting you to see if you are OK. If I had a problem I couldn’t see my way through, I know I can either phone or wait for my call and they will listen and help me.”

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign which helps UK registered charities raise funds for their cause. Eamon McGrath, Community Development Manager at Age UK Norfolk, is hoping the Big Give Challenge will generate vital funds for our service and said, “A simple telephone call can make such a big difference for those who are experiencing loneliness. It provides something to look forward to in what can feel like a long week for those unable to get out. Our ever cheerful volunteers love making the calls too. Raising funds through the Big Give Christmas Challenge will help us to call even more people in need.”
