St Giles Steet shop celebrates 25 years of trading

Shop manager Yvette and her hard-working team were delighted to welcome Michael Ellis MP and guests to enjoy a delicious spread at our fabulous shop on Friday 21st July

When the shop opened in July 1992 it was raising funds for Age Concern Northampton.  With the merger of national charities Age Concern and Help the Aged in 2010, we changed our name to Age UK Northamptonshire and now every penny raised in the St Giles Street shop enables us to improve later life for people throughout Northamptonshire.

Thank you to Northampton North MP Michael Ellis for attending our small celebration and for his kind words about the important role that charity shops play in the community.  We are also grateful to him for graciously agreeing to pick the winning tickets in our raffle.

We would also like to thank local businesses Steffans Jewellers Northampton, Cineworld Cinema, Northampton Town Football Club, Hensmans Hairdressers, RTS, Wig & Pen, Fox & Quill, The Cordwainer and Thorntons for generously donating raffle prizes and for their support throughout the year.

Shop manager Yvette Prior and her volunteers donated items to fill the prize hampers and, of course, keep the shop running all year round.  As a local independent charity Age UK Northamptonshire relies on the support of hundreds local people and we hope the shop will carry on trading successfully for another 25 years!
