About the role
We are looking for people with experience of working with older people to provide support to older patients and their carers in Northampton General Hospital. These posts will provide the practical and emotional support that enables patients to maintain their independence and improve their sense of wellbeing. With our support people can regain their confidence and have more control over their lives. You will help patients and their carers to identify their needs and to access services.
The role involves contacting relatives and carers on behalf of the patient and assisting patients with feeding and drinking. Where appropriate you may be asked to accompany patients home from the hospital. You will support patients with their practical and emotional needs and advocate on their behalf..
We are recruiting several people with the ability to work alone but also as part of a team. You must have empathy for older, vulnerable people and an understanding of the behaviour of others, and the contributory factors behind it. Good interpersonal skills and the ability to record accurately, both verbally and in writing, are essential. A good knowledge of services available to older people in Northamptonshire would be useful and experience of care work is desirable.
