Now more than ever, no one should have no one
This has been a worrying and isolating year for many of us. Many older people in Northamptonshire are looking ahead to a lonely Christmas and we are determined to be there to support them.
Before the outbreak of coronavirus, we were already facing a loneliness epidemic amongst older people. But as a result of the pandemic, this crisis has intensified.
This time of year is always hard for older people. Cold weather and shorter days make it difficult to stay connected to others - and many face difficulties meeting winter heating bills. We are continuing to provide support and keep our services open where government rules permit. Now, more than ever, we need your help to raise urgent funds.
Thanks to our supporters, we are able to improve life for thousands of older people in Northamptonshire all year round.
We provide practical help and reassurance to older people who may have no one else to turn to. If you, or someone you know needs support, please call us on 01604 611200.
We make a difference
Vena has lived in Northamptonshire all her life. She worked at the Church's factory in what the workers called The Shoe Room, where she put laces in the shoes.
She looks forward to meeting up with her friend Pat at our day centre every week. They particularly enjoy playing indoor bowls together, having a bit of a giggle because the woods never seem to roll straight.
“Oh, it’s lovely here," says Vena. “I like everything about coming here, they really look after us”.
