When our Age NI First Connect Coordinators visited Bill for the first time, they were utterly shocked to see the condition he was living in.

Bill had been the victim of an aggressive robbery during which he was beaten in his flat for over an hour.

It’s hard to explain the full impact that devastating event had on him. He felt alone and he was very frightened. Every part of his life had been affected.

Our First Connect Team helped Bill to begin to love later life again. We visited him at home often, listened to his hopes and fears and supported him to find his confidence again. With our help he found a local group that he wanted to be part of.  We went with him the first time to offer support - he was worried about meeting new people again.

Bill doesn’t want to stay in the house he used to call home anymore. We are helping him to move on.

Bill had been forgotten by society but with our help he is getting his life back, step by step.

Age NI is here to help people like Bill love later life again.
