In response to figures released on hospital waiting times, Linda Robinson, Age NI Chief Executive, said, 'Age NI is deeply concerned at the growing number of people who are waiting for treatment and care at hospital, particularly those having to endure longer waits than the target waiting times.
Delays in treatment can impact on the health and wellbeing of an older person, reducing their ability to be independent and increasing their reliance on other health and social care services.
These figures clearly demonstrate the urgent need to reform our health and social care system and introduce the changes outlined by the Bengoa report and the Minister for Health’s report, ‘Health and Wellbeing 2026: Delivering Together.
