There are just a few weeks remaining to help Age NI reach its target of getting 60,000 little woolly hats knitted for the Big Knit 2013.
Budding milliners have been supporting Age NI and innocent’s Big Knit for many years by knitting little hats as part of Age NI’s Spread the Warmth campaign. This year we want to knit the biggest amount of hats ever!
Knitters across NI are being asked to flex their creative muscles and knit 60,000 little woolly hats which will adorn innocent smoothie bottles in stores from November. For each be-hatted smoothie sold, innocent will give 25p to Age NI’s Spread the Warmth campaign.
Rosalind Cole, Age NI Events and Community Fundraiser said: ‘Winter can be a really difficult time of year for many older people, so it’s really important that local knitters get behind the Big Knit to help raise funds for Age NI. We’ve been tasked with knitting 60,000 hats by Friday 20 September 2013 so we need knitters of all levels to help make this a reality!’
Free Big Knit hat patterns are available to download. For those who don’t fancy making a hat themselves, wool and needles can be donated to Age NI to help others reach the target, or a donation can be made to Age NI’s Spread the Warmth campaign.
