A new study on patient outcomes after hip fracture has been launched by medical researchers at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Dr Martin Shields and his research team in Belfast would like to talk with people who have suffered from hip fracture or have cared for someone who has. He is interested in their experiences during the hospital stay from admission through to discharge.
This study is important because the mortality rate from hip fractures in the UK is high, at 7.5% and often affects the most frail members of the community.
Taking part in the study would involve answering a questionnaire either online or by paper, whichever is most convenient. The questionnaire will be very brief, taking not more than 10 minutes to complete and will ask you to rate on a scale of 1-9, the importance of certain clinical outcomes for patients who have experienced hip fractures.
