1. Steps to Funding - introductory workshops

A series of three independent workshops aimed at introducing older people’s groups/groups working with older people to the funding environment. 

Session 1: Preparation & Planning for small grant funding
Session focuses on the first steps to funding, providing advice and information on getting ready for a grant. Range of content relevant to participating  groups: reviewing basic governance structures, highlighting the fears & barriers experienced by groups, working through action plans.

Session 2: Making the Approach- Sources of Funding
Session considers who to approach for funding.  Information on potential sources of funding relevant to age sector projects.  Case studies of successfully funded projects reviewed, as well as current funding news and resources in specific areas.  Opportunity to meet a funder provided.

Session 3: Understanding Applications
Session aims to demystify the application process by looking at applications and the assessment process used by funders.  Case studies from actual applications used to demonstrate submissions to funders and how they were reviewed.  Possible reasons why applications are unsuccessful considered.
