Enjoying a Get Going Together Health WalkOur Get Going Together project encourages older people with long-term health conditions to get more active, both physically and mentally, and therefore become less socially isolated.

Our physical activity sessions, working closely with Oldham Community Leisure, include Health Walks, gentle Scenic Strolls and our successful Stitch 'n' Stroll sessions.

We’ve not just been focusing on exercise though, we’ve got a great ‘Knit and Natter’ group at the Boathouse Café at Alexandra Park where you can get together and make new friends.  If you decide to have a stroll with our walking group afterwards, that’s even better!

We also encourage Community Groups, Lunch Clubs and Sheltered Housing Schemes to try out exercise as part of their meetings. We can offer taster sessions and programmes of activity over 6 to 12 weeks at your group so that you can have a go.

All the below sessions are open to all - you are more than welcome to come and give any of them a try!

Walking Netball

  • Mondays, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Designed so that anyone can play regardless of age or fitness level, Walking Netball is a great activity for those who have dropped out of the sport they love due to  injury or believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago.

Playing walking netball offers fun, laughter and camaraderie as much as the health benefits -  giving those who feel isolated an outlet and anactivity for those who don’t deem themselves fit enough to run anymore.
