Nightingale Service Volunteer

Our Nightingale Service are looking for volunteers to join their growing team. As a Nightingale Service volunteer you will help support people who are recuperating at home after a recent hospital stay, or from a period of illness. Your tasks may vary depending on their individual needs and can include shopping, collecting prescriptions, light cleaning, conversation, accompanying your client to the doctors/hospital/dentist by foot or in a taxi, as well as helping to arrange outings and social activities and accompanying them. Occasionally, you may help with getting a home ready for discharge, with tasks including, moving furniture and fitting key safes (training given). Flexibility to work at short notice and the ability to work alone are especially helpful to this service.

Community Allotment Volunteer Gardener

We are looking for keen gardeners to volunteer on our community allotment. You will help a small team of our clients with planting and maintaining the allotment, which is located in Teddington on an ongoing basis. This role will be best suited to a patient person who does not mind rolling their sleeves up and getting stuck in!

Housekeeping Service Administrative Volunteer                                                                                                                                   Our housekeepers carry out tasks such as housework, shopping, collecting prescriptions, preparing light snacks etc. As the volunteer administrator you will be booking appointments, assessments, entering data into the housekeeper’s diaries, updating the database, as well as other administrative tasks. Annually, you will be involved in helping us with our quality monitoring. If you enjoy a busy, friendly office environment and have a few hours to spare each week, this is the role for you!

Leaflet Distributor and Project Promoter    

We are looking for volunteers from across the Borough of Richmond to join our team to promote Age UK Richmond and its many services and activities. We aim to reach a wide and diverse group by delivering leaflets and posters to venues including, libraries, cafes, GP surgeries and community centres. You will engage with people telling them about our organisation and gaining permission to display our promotional material. You will be provided with all materials and a list of businesses and organisations.

Social Centre Champion Volunteer        

Our three Social Centres aim to provide a place where older people in Richmond borough can come together and enjoy a range of activities, exercise classes, wellbeing sessions and social events. We are looking for a volunteer who will help us engage the local community and potential members, as well as helping existing members stay connected. Phoning members for a chat, reminding them of upcoming activities, events etc, whilst encouraging them to stay involved is an important part of this role. This role would suit someone who is friendly, likes to chat, and who is happy to go out and about in the local community from time to time.
