Can you help Age UK Rotherham to be there for older people this winter?

We are excited to launch our Christmas Appeal and would love your help to raise valuable funds this winter to support our Advice Line service.

Age UK Rotherham is a local charity supporting older people and their carers right across Rotherham Borough. Our Advice Line provides essential information and support to them and has never been more important than it is now, with the impact of the Covid pandemic still hitting older people hard.

Our Advice staff are well trained and very experienced in helping older people with whatever problems they have. Between April 2020 and October 2021, our Advice Line team answered and made more than 4,500 calls. We helped people deal with all sorts of things, from food deliveries to accessing benefits, care and adaptations that allow them to live independently.

Lesley Dabell, Age UK Rotherham Chief Executive, said, ‘We want to make sure that we can keep being here to answer these calls throughout winter, and beyond, and are asking local people to help us to do this by supporting our Christmas Appeal. Every penny raised will help us to keep this vital service open.’

Here's how your donation could help:

  • £5 pays for a call from an older person to be answered and basic information to be provided to them.
  • £25 enables us to spend more time helping an older person to deal with a more difficult problem.
  • £100 means we can support an older person to get the benefits and other help they are entitled to through a home visit or series of phone calls.

You can show your support by sending Age UK Rotherham Christmas eCards to family and friends and donating the money usually spent on cards and stamps to our Appeal.

We have created a bumper selection of 20 eCards to choose from including traditional, modern or cute designs so there’s something for everyone.

Each eCard contains a festive greeting along with the Age UK Rotherham logo and you can also add your own special message to the recipient.

The images in our special Rotherham landscape collection eCards were painted by architectural artist Tim Rose.
