Staying Well this Winter
This winter is set to be even tougher than usual. Our team at Age UK Salford are here to help. 💜 Whether it's eating well, moving more, or heating your home, we can help you to get the support you need. Contact us on 0161 877 7300.
Flu, Covid-19 booster jab, and other winter vaccines:
This year, because we have all been keeping ourselves from mixing as normal, experts think that there may well be more flu and other respiratory viruses around. There are also additional fears about decreasing immunity to the Covid-19 vaccination and thus the necessity for a booster jab. It is, therefore, critically important to protect yourself.

Access to healthcare:
There is currently a high level of demand for GP Services. If you are unable to get in touch with your local GP, alternatively you can use NHS 111 or speak with your local pharmacist.
Finances and heating the home: This year may be more financially challenging for you than usual. The Age UK Winter Hub has a page with tips and advice on preparing your home for winter and information on winter fuel payments. Winter financial support is available from Salford City Council for help with food, household bills and more.
Low mood, social isolation, and anxiety:
You may be feeling anxious about going out, are living with a long-term health condition or have lost the motivation and interest to do the things you used to enjoy. Please get in touch with us and we can help and advise you. Our Information and Advice Service and Social Rehabilitation Service may be able to offer the support and advice you need.
Loss of mobility and appetite:
You may be less mobile than you were as Covid-19 restrictions have had a significant impact on your mobility. This may have also affected your appetitie. We have information on eating and drinking well to keep you fit and healthy which is especially important during the Winter months. More information about Nutrition and Hydration in later life.
