Ambition For Ageing Salford

What is the Ambition for Ageing Programme?

Ambition for Ageing is a £10.2 million Greater Manchester level programme aimed at creating more age friendly places and empowering people to live fulfilling lives as they age. It is funded by the Big Lottery Fund’s Ageing Better Programme, which aims to reduce social isolation of older people.

Lead by GMCVO, the 5 year programme is delivered by a cross-sector partnership with Local Delivery Leads (LDLs) leading on the work in 25 neighbourhoods across 8 local authorities in Greater Manchester.

What is an Age Friendly City?

“An Age-friendly world enables people of all ages to actively participate in community activities and treats everyone with respect, regardless of their age. It’s a place that makes it easy for older people to stay connected to people that are important to them.  It helps people stay healthy and active even at the oldest of ages and provides appropriate support to those who can no longer look after themselves.”
