I oversee the strategic vision of Age UK Scarborough and District, I am passionate about supporting the over 50s across our region, and working in a collaborative way with other Voluntary, Statutory and profit-making organisations. Our services reflect the diverse range of over 50s we represent and I am always looking for new services to develop and deliver, in order to enable increased independence and to lower isolation and loneliness.
Michelle Parnaby • Shop Manager at Eastfield, Filey, Helmsley & Scarborough
I am the Shop Manager at Age UK Scarborough & District. I cover the Eastfield, Filey and Falsgrave shops, dividing my time between them. I have found the staff and volunteers welcoming and I am enjoying the work, meeting new people and the wide range of work it takes to run both of the shops.

Jackie Cammish • Admin, Finance and Reception Coordinator
At Age UK Scarborough & District I look after the daily Finance/Accounts and Payroll. I also carry out administration duties and work on the front desk, which is really nice as it means that I meet and greet clients and visitors coming in to the organisation. I am also Clerk to the Trustees and take minutes at the Board and AGM meetings. My role is varied which I really enjoy and I love working for such a great Organisation who really care about helping elderly people within the community. I am also a member of the Dementia Action Alliance Group (DAA) and represent Age UK at the monthly meetings and events.
Alison Easton • Wellbeing Practitioner / Intergenerational work
I have been working for Age UK Scarborough & District for over the past 4 years. I have also the responsibility for Integrational work in the community and run a pen pal scheme with local children. I thoroughly enjoy meeting clients on a regular basis at our Norbrek Coffee morning each Thursday. I run a drop in for employability every Wednesday 10 til 2 and an information and advice drop in every other Thursday 10 til 1.

It is my role to support clients aged 50 and over with any Health and Wellbeing concerns they may have and to help them break down any barriers they may be facing which are preventing them from finding employment.

I have been working for Age UK since June 2020 as the community hub coordinator. My role involves coordinating volunteers to assist our clients with their shopping, prescription collections and telephone befriending services. These services are for Covid response to assist people who are isolating and finding it hard in these challenging times.
Carmel Thompson • Information and Advice Worker
I give advice, information and support to anyone over 50, their families, carers, and friends, on matters including benefits, housing, social care, and health. This includes assisting with claims and reviews, using Zoom or over the phone; signposting; and making referrals to, or liaising with, specialists, either within Age UK or external statutory and voluntary agencies. I enjoy the challenges of my role, which is rewarding and satisfying, and being part of a dedicated team working to reduce isolation, enhance the quality of life, and improve the wellbeing of older people in the Scarborough area so that they can love later life.
