Chief Executive Officer – Julie Macey
I oversee the strategic vision of Age UK Scarborough and District, ensuring that we are providing all the services that are needed to support all of those over the age of 50. I am based in the Scarborough office, but am often found out and about across the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedle area.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer – Jackie Hutchinson
Part of my work is to secure funding in order to deliver our services out into the community. I spend time listening to what older people need, exploring ways to improve their lives in practical and supportive ways. I help develop new services, managing and reporting back to funders on the success of these projects.
Volunteering and Befriending Co-ordinator – Laureen Downes
My job does not keep me restricted to this department though, I also oversee the Scarborough Knit & Natter group and am co-ordinator for Park Manor Lunch Club which I thoroughly enjoy. It is a privilege to work for AgeUK Scarborough & District and the people I work alongside are a really great team.
Community Link Worker - Carmel ThompsonMy job as a Community Link Worker is really satisfying, as well as being challenging! Every day is different, and it is great to have a positive impact on the lives of so many older people.
As well as covering the Friday drop-in session at our Scarborough office, I hold drop-ins at Filey and Malton and carry out home visits in South Ryedale, Filey and the surrounding area and in Scarborough.
The work is very varied; I assist with benefit claims, social care matters, housing enquiries and enable people to access social and leisure activities, which can reduce feelings of isolation.
I enjoy the work as it enables me to meet and talk to so many interesting people, and to be part of a dedicated team that is making a huge difference to the lives of older people in the Scarborough area.
