Within the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale area there are many older people who experience loneliness or isolation; some will never go outside their own homes or see a friendly face from one day to the next. Our local befriending service provides volunteers, who are available to call older people for a chat every week or make regular visits to them.
The service is aimed at people who are lonely and isolated and don't have a network of close friends and family supporting them. Our volunteers are helpful, friendly, and care about your well-being. You can talk about old times, new times, or anything in-between. If you are interested because you would like to use the service, or know someone who might benefit from it, please get in touch to find out more about the service.
If you would like to take part in this worth-while scheme you might like to consider volunteering. It could be over the telephone or, better still, for home visits then please get in touch. Our Volunteer/Befriending Co-ordinator would love to hear from you, whether it be to put your name forward to volunteer, or have one of our volunteers contact you.
