Age UK Scarborough & District offers a free and confidential information and advice service for older people, their families and carers.
Our Community Link Workers cover Scarborough, and Filey.
What can we do?
The Link Workers provide information & advice and can look into what you are entitled to, whether it is benefits you are missing out on or services that could help you. They can check through any paperwork you have received and help you understand what you need to do. Or they will let you know what clubs are being held in your local area and help you decide if they would be of any interest to you. We aim to help you stay independent and in your own home for as long as you want. Our advisers are trained to help you on the following topics:
- Social care - such as finding a care home or getting some help at home, and how it's funded.
- Your income - including free benefits checks, help with applying for benefits and pension advice.
- Your home - information on staying warm at home, home adapatations and how to prevent falls.
- Legal issues - such as wills, Power of Attorney, and how to deal with an estate.
Please note that, to help you complete complicated forms, a home visit must be arranged. This will make things easier and more comfortable for you!
