Age Squatland - Squat Challenge

About The Age Squatland - Squat Challenge

When: 1-31 August 2022
Where: Virtual
Registration fee: Free
Minimum sponsorship: £5

Take on the Age Squatland Squat Challenge (see what we did there!) and aim to complete up to 200 squats a day throughout August.

Feel the burn and raise money for older people who are feeling lonely and isolated in Scotland.

Why should you take on the Age Squatland Squat Challenge?

  • You’ll look better - taking part in regular exercise can help you get fitter and improve your mental wellbeing.
  • You’ll feel better - raise money for lonely and isolated older people in Scotland.
  • It’s easy! – do it at home, in the garden, at work or even on your lunch break.

Set your own target by choosing between 50-200 squats a day.

Just pick something that will push you out of your comfort zone.

Over 200,000 older people in Scotland can go up to one week without talking to a single person. Donating £10 will mean we can make 2 vital friendship calls and raising £100 will be an amazing 20 weekly calls to older people who really need our support.

So feel the burn and tone that bum! Join in the fun and sign up today.

Set up a donation page on Enthuse and compete with family and friends, or simply donate to Age Scotland online. Share your progress online and don’t forget to tag @AgeScotland and use #AgeSquatlandChallenge. We cannot wait to see all your pictures!

Top Tips for a safe and effective squat:

  • Stand with your feet shoulder width apart.
  • Hands clasped in front of chest, elbows slightly bent.
  • Push your hips back.
  • Bend your knees, and lower into a squat, as if you are sitting back onto a chair (hold onto the back of a chair if you need to).
  • Pause at the bottom, then return to starting position to complete and repeat.

Fundraising Targets

No minimum sponsorship required, all we ask is you raise as much as you can. For this challenge there are a few options:

  • Set up a fundraising page here and ask your friends to donate to the challenge.
  • Make a donation and give what you can then nominate a friend to join the challenge!
  • Donate £10* to Age Scotland and support lonely older people by texting AGESQUATLAND to 70450 and nominate your friends to join.

*Texts cost £10 plus one standard rate message and you’ll be opting in to hear more about Age Scotland's work and fundraising via telephone and SMS. If you’d like to give £10 but do not wish to receive marketing communications, text AGESQUATLANDNOINFO to 70450.
