Policy Officer

Scotland based: blend of office (Edinburgh) and home working
35 hours per week

£28,000 - £30,000 pa (depending on experience)

Age Scotland is the national charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of everyone over the age of 50 so that they can love later life.

We support and enable hundreds of communities and older people’s groups across Scotland. We provide information, friendship and advice through our free helpline and publications. We tackle loneliness and isolation with our Friendship Line and much more.

We work in Scotland with older people’s groups who provide vital activities and services for older people in their local community. We campaign on the issues that older people tell us are important to them.

Our Policy & Communications Team are looking for Policy Officer to research the needs of older people in Scotland and develop policy which would improve their lives. The post holder will monitor, analyse and influence public policy developments that affect people over the age of 50.

The Policy Officer will have an excellent knowledge and technical grasp of a wide range of portfolios, supporting the work of colleagues across the charity.

The post will be a blend of office based (in Edinburgh) and home-based work.

Due to the Covid outbreak in the UK, we have adapted our way of working to ensure the ongoing delivery of services, while minimising risk to our employees. Depending on guidance from the Scottish Government regarding the lifting of restrictions, this role may initially be completely home based, incorporating office work and face to face contact when it is safe to do so.
