We can support your group or service to enhance the wellbeing of your members age 50 and older.  

Fun Active Taster Games for groups

Age Scotland offers free fun active taster games to demonstrate how your group can build physical activity into regular get-togethers in a fun and sociable way.  Research shows that adding a little extra physical activity into daily routines makes it more likely that someone will enjoy a long and healthy life, and that it’s never too late to start.

Our Healthy Active Ageing Trainer is available to host tasters of our fun active games, Body Boosting Bingo or Power Quiz, online or in-person (subject to current covid safety guidance).  These games incorporate light physical movements that develop strength, balance and flexibility in older adults, and that are based on research evidence.  There are seated and standing options for each movement.

Introducing Body Boosting Bingo

Introducing Body Boosting Bingo

Body Boosting Bingo is game of bingo with a twist.  In Body Boosting Bingo the familiar rhyming bingo calls are linked to a movement, for example ‘Number 10, let’s twist again’. Players are invited to join in doing movements along to a fun music score. There are 30 numbers and movements that could be called. First to get a line is winner. The session lasts 45 minutes to an hour. For details and booking email healthandwellbeing@agescotland.org.uk.

Introducing Power Quiz

Introducing Power Quiz

Power Quiz is multiple-choice quiz with four rounds: Sport, Entertainment, Around the World, and History. When the answer for each question is revealed, players are invited to join in a movement associated with that answer to a fun music score. You can play individually or in teams. Free workshops for hosting your own fun active games

This workshop is for professionals, and volunteer community organisers, who would like to host our fun active grames with their groups. The workshop will cover:

  • Physical activity in later life: what research says and public health guidelines.
  • An introduction to Age Scotland's fun and active resources: Power Quiz, Body Boosting Bingo and Around the House in 80 Days.
  • An opportunity to try out leading these activities
  • How to plan, promote, and safely run sessions based on these resources

Those completing the workshop will receive free materials to run sessions (subject to terms and conditions of use).

Wellbeing Conversations sessions

A Wellbeing Conversation is an opportunity for older people in community group settings to talk about what wellbeing means to them, and to think about how they might, individually and (or) together, boost their wellbeing. The conversation is facilitated by the Age Scotland Health and Wellbeing Team, who will also share tips for boosting wellbeing and enable your group members to experience wellbeing technqiues.
