Volunteer celebration

Volunteer celebrationAge UK Sheffield's tremendous volunteers were treated to a celebration event in May, to thank them for their commitment to older people in Sheffield.

Forty of the charity's volunteers attended the event at the Virgin Money Lounge. They heard singing from Jim of Cocklebread Singers, tucked into a delicious buffet from FEAST, and enjoyed plenty of bowling, table football, air hockey and pool.

It was great to see so many of the volunteers there, put names to faces and catch up with people’s stories. We have volunteers doing brilliant work: running digital drop-ins, coffee mornings, Life Story Sessions and Community events. We also have regular volunteers at Information and Advice in our office on Eyre Street, in the Wellbeing Centre in Norfolk Park and those who visit or telephone isolated people in the community.

Some of the volunteers brought along the person they visit, which is a real example of how our In Touch/Befriending Service is genuinely working.

If you know anyone who’d like to get involved with Age UK Sheffield, look at the opportunities on our Volunteering page.
