Age Friendly Sheffield Awards

The Awards
We are very excited to be hosting the first ever annual Age Friendly Sheffield Awards Ceremony this October. The awards are designed to reward and celebrate all the achievements and contributions of amazing local businesses, voluntary groups, communities and individuals who make Sheffield a great place to grow older and a fantastic city in which to live. It's all part of the Age Friendly City Programme for Sheffield.
All of the nominations for the awards have now closed apart from our final award, the Lifetime Acheivemnet Award. Nominations for this final category are open to all and nominations can be made by clicking here.
You are welcome to nominate more than one person. The deadline for nominations is midnight on Sunday September 8th. Thank you to everyone who has nominated so far!

Lifetime Achievement Award
We’re asking the people of Sheffield to nominate a person to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award.  The person you nominate will be a person who has made a significant impact and commitment to ensuring that Sheffield is a great city in which to live and grow old.
We are asking people to make this nomination as part of our Age Friendly Sheffield Awards. It’s all part of the Age Friendly City Programme.

We ask that you please simply nominate a person by:
- Telling us their name
- Telling us why you think this person is worthy of achieving this award(This can be as long or short as you like, however the more details, the better! Please include a clear description of at least one example of something they have done in order to make Sheffield an age friendly city).
- Please give us this person’s contact details (with their permission) so that we are able to contact your nominated person should they win the award. Without having their contact details we will not be able to tell them that they have been nominated or, potentially, won the award!

To place your nomination, simply click here.

We are also looking for a tagline for our Age Friendly programme in Sheffield. It needs to truly reflect Sheffield. We’d love to have the input and ideas from as many Sheffielders as possible! So please feel free to add a your own tagline idea (or a few!) when you place your nomination. You can also make a suggestion without a nomination, just fill in the relevant part of the survey here. Alternatively feel free to email us or tweet us your ideas!

To give you an idea of what the tagline should look like, here are some examples from other Age Friendly Programmes:
For Belfast, it is: “Belfast: a city where people live life to the full”
Leeds is: “Making Leeds the best city to grow old in”
Glasgow: “A great city to grow old”
Denver: “Age Matters in Denver”.
