Cashing in the chips

20 March 2017

Chip panA Christmas charity single which climbed the charts is to chip in £1,385.21 to a local charity's coffers.

The Everly Pregnant Brothers' "Chip Pan" ditty was a smash hit in December 2016, with half of the proceeds going to Age UK Sheffield.

Now the band has confirmed the full amount to be donated, following receipt of the official sales figures.

Age UK Sheffield Chief Executive, Steve Chu, said: "This is a tremendous gesture by the band, we really can't thank them enough. Our work supports people aged 50 or over who need our help in Sheffield, many of whom live in poverty, poor health, poor housing, or in isolation. This will help us to provide older Sheffielders with a brighter and independent future."

The song was recorded with South Yorkshire firefighters, who were raising awareness of the dangers of chip pan fires, which kill and injure hundreds of people across the UK every year.
