Volunteering in a role for our Age UK Sheffield charity shops provides a unique opportunity to support our charity’s ongoing work to support older people across Sheffield through our services such as our dementia support and Independent Living Coordination services, plus the other services we provide that aim to reduce loneliness and social isolation amongst the older community of Sheffield.

As an independent local charity, everything we sell in our charity shops directly funds our charity’s services for local people. (This differs from National Age UK Charity shops, which raise money to provide services both nationally and internationally). This means the time and skills you volunteer to this role will directly support us to continue to deliver much needed support services to older people who live in our city.

Our volunteers are absolutely incredible and we couldn’t do what we do without them. Take a look at our current volunteer opportunities for supporting our shops below. You don’t need any previous retail experience to help in our shops and it provides a great opportunity to gain skills and experience as well as the chance to make new friends and do something amazing for your community.

Donation Support Volunteer

Do you love searching for unique finds in charity shops? Or maybe you love finding vintage clothes! Have you ever fancied helping out in a local charity shop? We have a volunteer role that might be right up your street (literally!)

Now that our Bradway charity shop has reopened following lock down (soon to be followed by our Abbeydale Road Charity shop) We are looking for new volunteers for an interesting new role! We are very lucky to receive lots of kindly donated items to our charity shops, especially following lock down where many people have had a spring clean! But, we only have limited space in our shops to store and sort these donations! So, we now have a storage facility at the top of Abbeydale Road (near the Tesco petrol station) and are looking for people who would like to help us organise donations here, help us drive the donations between the storage facility and our shops, and help out in the shops too if you like!

You don’t need any sort of retail experience for this role, and all volunteer expenses are covered. It would be ideal if you have a large car or van to support the transport of donated items. (Fuel costs will be covered!) There’s no minimum amount of time or hours you have to offer, so it could just be a couple of hours of your spare time each week that you help out. If you’re interested at all, please feel free to either get in touch with us so that a friendly member of our team can get in touch with you to discuss the role and any questions you may have in more detail, or, you can apply for this role straight away! Simply complete the volunteer application form at the bottom this page, send it through to us, and we’ll get back to you!
