Age UK North Shropshire Supporters raised £3000 at the recent Crowns and Coronets Ball that marked the royal wedding between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Guests at the ball, held at the Tern Hill Hall Hotel, Market Drayton, made the most of the glorious weather whilst enjoying drinks in the beautiful grounds of the hotel. Following dinner, Mr Jeremy Lamond, a director of Halls, ran a successful auction, which included lunch for two and an afternoon of top class racing with chairperson Rose Paterson, at Aintree Thursday 2019, polo lessons at Moor Farm, Baschurch, and sailing for twelve people on the Lyneal Trust's Shropshire Lady.

Anne Wignall, chair of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘We would like to thank everyone who supported this fantastic event. Thank you to our sponsors, those who provided auction and raffle prizes, and to everyone who turned up on the night and made the evening so much fun!’

At the event, the supporters group presented Heather Osborne, chief executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, with a cheque for £2000, bringing the total they have raised for the charity this year to a fantastic £5000.

The next event organised by Age UK North Shropshire Supporters will be the Party at the Mere, an evening of good food, music and dancing at the Boathouse, Ellesmere, on Saturday 8 September. Tickets will be available from Ismay's, 16 High Street, Ellesmere, closer to the event.
