Summer holidays

Llandudno holidaymakers Noel Edwards and Doreen Massey

This July our team of volunteers celebrated 15 years of holidaying to Llandudno with 100 older people.

Summer’s nearly over but our team of volunteers have already started organising next year’s holiday, with support from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin staff to try to ensure that everyone’s needs are cared for.

Each year, three coaches and a minibus transport older people to Llandudno for a week long holiday. The weather was very pleasant this year and our guests enjoyed spending time in the picturesque setting of the Queen’s Hotel, walking along the promenade and taking in the sea air. For those wanting to explore the area, there were day trips to Anglesey, Bodnant Gardens, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Llanberis and Betwys-y-coed.

For many older people this is the only opportunity they have to go away on holiday and it’s a great way to meet new people and forge long term friendships. The holiday is suitable for older people, and anyone who is disabled if they have a carer. There may be some financial help for those who need to bring a carer.

The dates for the 2019 holiday are 6-13 July, so if you would like to join us, call us on 01743 233 123. We will send out application packs in March 2019, to those who have registered their interest.
