Thank you to our volunteers

Volunteers' Week (1-7 June)

Published on 04 June 2018 10:48 AM

It's Volunteers' Week (1-7 June) and Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin's Chief Executive, Heather Osborne expresses her huge thanks for all the support and dedication of our army of volunteers.

We are a local charity and we could not deliver our services without the help of over 850 volunteers in 950 roles. The contribution our volunteers make to the charity was valued around £2million last year and still, there are volunteer vacancies available as more and more older people look to Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin for support. We provides a range of services across the whole of the county including day centres, a help at home service, befriending schemes as well as information and advice.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: 'We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful team of volunteers, some of whom have been with us for over 15 years. Our volunteers play an extremely important role helping us deliver services to local older people. Throughout the year, we use every opportunity to say thank you and invite volunteers along to our Christmas lunch, we also nominate our volunteers for local and national awards. Volunteers' Week is another chance for us to recognise their tremendous dedication.'

To mark Volunteers' Week, our volunteer recruitment team will be in The Square in Shrewsbury on Tuesday 5 June to chat to anyone who is interested in volunteering to support older people in the community.

If you would like to find out more about volunteering for Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, pop along to The Square from 11.00am on Tuesday 5 June or call 01743 233 123.
