Voters with burning questions for candidates standing in December’s General Election are invited to submit them at a local hustings event in Wellington on 28 November.

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is joining forces with Telford Senior Citizens Forum to hold an election hustings where local people can put their questions to candidates from all the major parties.

So if you want to raise concerns about social care, transport, poverty, health provision or any other issues affecting older people in the region, doors open at the Whitehouse Hotel at 10.00am with the debate will taking place 10.30am-12.30pm.

Chris Fox, Co-ordinator of the Senior Citizens Forum, said: ‘Candidates that are standing in both Telford and Wrekin constituencies will be present. People can submit questions on paper at the beginning, with one candidate from each party answering each question. It’s your chance to participate in local democracy by asking candidates what they would do about key topics up for debate.’

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin said: ‘This is an exciting opportunity to engage with local candidates on the issues that really matter to older people. It’s important that older people get to exercise their democratic right and work towards a positive impact on local decision makers by highlighting what is important to them.’

The hustings event takes place on Thursday 28 November at the Whitehouse Hotel, Watling Street, Wellington, TF1 2NJ.
