Staff from a Telford based life and pensions company presented over 200 gifts to Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin for members of their day centres.
The gift boxes containing chocolates, biscuits and toiletries were kindly donated by employees working at ReAssure. ReAssure have chosen Age UK as their corporate charity and they will be the focus of fundraising efforts across its sites in Telford, Hitchin and Norwich until the end of 2019.
Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin runs 39 day centres for older people, with 16 in Telford. Over the past few week’s staff and volunteers have been distributing the gift boxes to each of the Telford day centres. The gifts were intended to be given out before Christmas but the snow caused some disruption in getting them to older people before the festive break.
Lois Clifford, Service Development Officer at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: ‘We are very grateful to ReAssure for donating so many gift boxes. It was lovely to see people open them and everyone has been delighted with their gifts. It was so thoughtful of the staff at ReAssure to do something like this.’
Matt Cuhls, ReAssure Chief Executive, said: ‘As a company focussed on putting the customer at the heart of our business, we feel that Age UK is an excellent fit for us. I’m delighted that fundraising efforts across our business will be dedicated to a charity that is close to the hearts of many of our employees and customers.’
