Every year a team of our volunteers organise a week's holiday in Llandudno for older people who wish to have a holiday but, for whatever reason, find it difficult to get away.
The holiday is enjoyed by around 100 older people from Shropshire, and this year it takes place from 8-15 July 2017.
The holiday includes great food and nightly entertainment at the Queen's Hotel on the sea front in Llandudno. This provides a wonderful base from which to explore Llandudno. Holidaymakers can also book a range of trips around the local area, for example on the Welsh Highland Railway, Llanberis, Anglesey, Beaumaris, Betws-y-Coed and Caernarvon. However, strolling along the promenade in the sunshine, listening to the band, or walking the pier are also very popular pastimes.
Support is provided by a team of volunteers, who do everything they can to make sure that everyone has a good time. Although they carry out many different tasks, they cannot provide personal care, so if you need a carer, you will need to bring one along. Transport is available with coaches picking up holidaymakers around the county.
The holiday costs £390 for accommodation (bed, breakfast and evening meal) and £20 for transport to and from Llandudno by coach. A small charge of £1 is made for each day trip. If you need to pay for a carer to come along with you, or are finding it difficult to find the money for the holiday, we may be able to help, so please get in touch.
We are always trying to reach more older people who find it difficult to get away on holiday. If you know someone who may like to come along, please tell them about it.
Ring our Shrewsbury office on 01743 233 123 to request an application form or to find out more.
Application forms will be sent out from 24 February 2017.
