Staff and volunteers at our new dementia support group in ShifnalCoping with the challenges of dementia can leave you feeling isolated and in need of help: our Diamond Drop In Centres give vital support and information in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.

Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin have teamed up with St Andrew’s Forget-me-not to increase the amount of dementia support available in Shifnal. Our new drop in, which opened at the beginning of February, is for both carer and the person living with dementia. Everyone attending will get:

  • A chance to get to know others and share experiences in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere
  • Information and support from Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin about its own and other services that are available to help you
  • An opportunity to take part in interesting activities including singing, music, table games, art and reminiscence and most importantly, to have some fun.

Feedback from our other Diamond Drop Ins has been really positive: one member said, ‘The drop in centre has been a real boon to me personally, as it helps me to cope as a carer and my husband gets such a lot out of it too and it makes him smile and we can do fun things together.’

If you’d like to give the session a try, we can arrange for transport and a buddy to accompany you and the person you care for until you've settled into the group.
