We have been lucky enough to receive support from a number of local groups and associations in Solihull. They are a vital part of our community fundraising programme and help us to reach out to more people in our local area.

Age UK Solihull would be delighted if your local group would like to fundraise for us, or choose us as your charity of the year.

Please email events@ageuksolihull.org.uk to discuss how we can work together.

Some of the groups and associations we have worked with:

The Knowle & Dorridge Lions

Knowle Fun Run vols 467px.JPGWe provided volunteers to help marshal the Knowle Fun Run in 2023 (pictured). We were lucky enough to receive a £2,000 donation from funds raised from the event.

The Knowle & Dorridge Lions also supported us with their Easter Egg Raffles in 2019, 2022 and 2023. Volunteers from the Lions club and from Age UK Solihull sold raffle tickets at The Black Boy pub in Knowle, raising over £3,500 in total, with half coming to Age UK Solihull each time.

One member of the Lions has also previously volunteered for our Winter Warmth campaign and completed the Great Birmingham Run for us in 2019 and 2021.

We also received an incredible £10,000 from the Knowle Fun Run in 2013. It was the Fun Run's 30th Anniversary as well as ours so this was an extra special year.

Thank you to the Lions and to all our volunteers who have helped to raise such brilliant amounts from these activities!

The Rotary Club of Knowle & Dorridge

In 2021 and 2023, the club organised Golf Days at Copt Heath Golf Club, raising £2,000 for Age UK Solihull each time.

Members of the Rotary also took part in Challenge 40 in 2023 to celebrate our 40th anniversary. They held a 40-yard Nearest the Pin golf competition, raising £95 for us.

In 2021 and 2022 the club bought some heaters and electric blankets for our Winter Warmth project.

During 2020, the club made donations to help with buying food items, delivering Christmas gifts and cards, and generally keeping the charity running through the pandemic.

In 2019/20 the club sponsored our Postural Stability Instruction programme's water bottles, and they made donations toawrs our Christmas lunches for lonely older people in 2019 and 2023.

Solihull Fire Station

Fire station open day 467px.jpgWe are very proud to work alongisde West Midlands Fire Service in both our services and fundraising.

WMFS has been one of our main partners for the last 15 years. They have worked with us to support our clients to ensure they are safe, and have often gone above and beyond to support us, especially when it comes to safeguarding those most vulnerable.

The team at Solihull Fire Station have also supported us by allowing us to keep our electric vehicle, "Cynthia", stored there, welcoming us to the fire station's Open Day in 2023, taking part in our chocolate bouquet raffle, and coordinating a Christmas Gift donation appeal for us.

Thank you to everyone involved in organising such a wonderful occasion, and also to our volunteers for representing the charity at the event.
