Get out your feathers and fruit for Rio Carnival Ball
‘Rio Carnival’ is the theme for this year’s annual Summer Ball being organised by Solihull Sustain in partnership with Age UK Solihull at The St Johns Hotel, Solihull on Friday 8 July.
The night promises to be great fun, with Samba Band ‘Someone  at the Door’ welcoming guests, dancing to live band ‘The Score’, live and silent auctions, a raffle, photobooth and much more, all with the Rio Carnival theme -  a great precursor to the Summer Olympics which take place in the Brazilian capital later in the year.
Solihull Taxi Cabs are kindly sponsoring the tickets and will make a donation of £1 per journey for any guests booking their transport to the event with them.
Last year, the event raised £12,500 and all money raised on the night will be used to support the fundraising programme run by SUSTAiN to support Solihull based charities and community groups, as well as helping Age UK Solihull to continue to provide services to help improve the lives of older people each year in the borough.
This is the 6th year that the ball has been held at The St Johns Hotel, who add their support as one of the main sponsors.  Ray McKibben, General Manager at the hotel says, “We are very proud to be part of such a great cause. The St Johns Hotel has a long positive history with the Solihull community and we remain committed in lending our support by hosting this event.  So please come and join us all for a truly great night”.
Tickets to the event are £40 each or £400 for a table of 10 and include a welcome drink, delicious 3 course dinner with coffee, and live entertainment.
Organiser, June Mole for SUSTAiN said: “The Solihull Together campaign has raised over £50,000 since its launch in 2009.  We are delighted to be working in partnership with our colleagues in Age UK Solihull and are looking forward to a fantastic night!  If you are a local charity wanting to raise some extra cash, you can do this just by coming along to join us on the night.  Thanks to the tremendous sponsorship from The St Johns Hotel, you will receive 50% of the total ticket price back”.
