What is Memory Connections (Dementia MCST)?
We are excited to announce the launch of ‘Memory Connections’, our new Dementia Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) Service supporting older people living with mild to moderate dementia.
‘Memory Connections’ is our Dementia Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) weekly programme of meaningful and stimulating activities for people living with mild to moderate dementia. Participants can attend a face-to-face group session (MCST) or a virtual session at home using Zoom (vMCST).
The trained specialist team deliver the sessions, and participants are encouraged to engage in activities to promote the maintenance of an active and stimulated mind and to exercise skills that they may not have used for a while. Sessions cover different themes and interests such as; Life History, Current Affairs, Word Games to Music, Art, Creativity and much more.
Cognitive Stimulation is the only non-drug treatment recommended to improve cognition, independence and well-being by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).
Where is MCST held, and for what duration?
There will be the ability to attend a group face to face, or alternatively, from the comfort of your home using Zoom.
The groups will run once a week for a recommended 24 weeks. Face to face groups will have a maximum of 8 participants and will be delivered during a two-hour session. Virtual online groups will have a maximum of 6 participants and will be delivered during a 90-minute session. The groups will run weekly for a recommended 24 weeks, both face to face (MCST) and online (vMCST).

*The park Centre is located opposite Kingswood Civic Centre, just a 5 minutes’ walk from the Kings Chase Shopping Centre. Parking is available at the rear of the building, and two disabled bays can be found at the front of the building.

Who can apply for this service?
Memory Connections (Dementia MCST) can accommodate people with or without a formal dementia diagnosis; please speak to our friendly team for further information.
Is there a charge for this service?
This a chargeable service with a requirement that the participants normally attend a minimum of 12 sessions to ensure continuity. Payment will be by direct debit, monthly in advance. Face to face sessions will be £25 each, and virtual sessions will be £15.
