Age of Creativity releases online resources for older people during lockdown

Published on 03 June 2020 01:25 PM

The Age of Creativity have produced lists of a whole host of different activities for older people to try out during the lockdown period, including a new “Creative Pack”. There is also news on a new working group you can join, which is focussed on non-digital creative cultural delivery for older people.

The Age of Creativity is an online platform for everyone who believes in the value of creativity for older people. The Age of Creativity Network is managed by Age UK Oxfordshire and they have organised a yearly Age of Creativity Festival since 2017. This year, the Age of Creativity Festival has had to be postponed until October. However, the Age of Creativity has created a set of (mostly) free resources for older people to use while social distancing.

Using these resources it’s possible to virtually tour the world’s best museums, listen to podcasts, take a dance/exercise class, join a choir, listen to streamed concerts, watch quality theatre productions, join a virtual festival, learn some crafting techniques or try a short university course. The choice is immense. There are also activities for people in a care home setting and for people living with dementia.
