We're absolutely delighted to win the Outstanding Community Organisation Spirit of Age Award for our Men in Sheds activity!

This award is to recognise the significant achievements of a local organisation, project or group which supports or is run by older people.

The Men in Sheds is a traditional leisure activity, located in Ash that brings together older men to meet up in their own space, socialise and learn new skills from each other. The main Shed activity is woodworking, which is carried out in a well-equipped workshop which includes handtools, portable power tools and small machines. Supervision is undertaken by a well-qualified and experienced leader.

Men work on their own projects and also carry out activities that will bring benefit to the local community as well as making items for sale to help with funding for the Shed.

Other activities are organised from the Shed which have included; local community projects, fishing, photography and visits to places of interest.
