About Age UK Sutton
We are an independent local charity, here to serve the London Borough of Sutton. We deliver direct services, provide information and advice, and work with a wide range of partners to improve later life for older people across our community.
With an ageing population, increasing levels of loneliness and support needs, and pressures on statutory systems, Age UK Sutton's work to represent the interests of older people and work with partners to find solutions to challenges is more important than ever. The charity is funded by a blend of grants, donations from the public, and commissions.
This is a critical time for our charity, which turned 25 in 2016. We are proud to have recently become the lead partner of Sutton Council in delivering the Sutton Plan for Older People.
We are looking for two new trustees to join our board at this exciting stage of our development.
What trustees do
Trustees are responsible for the governance of the charity: setting the strategic direction, ensuring requirements are met and that we are delivering real benefits for older people. The Board meets formally every quarter and Trustees may also be asked to serve on a committee or other ad hoc group. There are regular opportunities to attend events and work with the leadership team on projects.
