Age UK Sutton charity quiz night raises over £2000 for local older people

Over 130 eggheads from Sutton and beyond gathered at the Slug & Lettuce Sutton on Wednesday 13 March in a battle of wits at Age UK Sutton’s annual Charity Pub Quiz fundraiser.

Twenty teams from local businesses and organisations came together to support the local older people’s charity. These included local branches of Halifax, Santander and Lloyds, Sutton-based businesses DVV Media, ABC Hire and Juice Design, and other community organisations such as Sutton Housing Partnership, London Borough of Sutton and What’s On In Sutton.

A nail-biting tie-breaker saw the “SM1ders” from SM1 Print Studio secure second place, with Santander’s “Total Bankers” coming in third. Honourable mention, along with the wooden spoon, went to Lloyd’s “Woozy Bankers”. Halifax’s “Getting Quizzy With It” clinched first place and the ‘Age UK Sutton Pub Quiz Masters’ trophy.

Age UK Sutton’s Pub Quiz fundraiser was supported by Slug & Lettuce Sutton, who donated the first prize of a Cocktail Masterclass, and hosted the event at their venue. The Pub Quiz Masters trophy was gifted by Andy Cook. U.S. based pub quiz Geeks Who Drink continued their support by donating the quiz and other material to make the night a success.

The event raised more than £2000 on the night, funds which will support Age UK Sutton to deliver vital services and support to older people, their families and carers throughout the borough.
