The Information and Advice service covers welfare benefits, disability benefits and Carer's Allowance, blue badge applications, and information on affordable energy, housing, wills and other general legal issues.
As a volunteer, you will assist advisors by:
- Completing benefit and application forms with clients
- Telling clients about other services that can help them and handling phone enquiries
- Updating our computerised client record system
We are keen to recruit volunteers with community language skills to help to support clients from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) communities.
Last year our I&A service helped improve the lives of 727 older people. The service scores the highest levels of satisfaction from service users across the charity:
“I received very good advice and assistance from staff when I applied for home help. I thank you very much.”
“Without their help, I would not have been able to fill in the many forms; people like them make life easier for people like me — thanks a million.”
“Staff were very helpful and informative and of course I am delighted with the maximum award for my mother.”
