Walking Group Volunteer
You will:
- Understand the benefits of walking for older people
- Enjoy walking so you can motivate and encourage others
- Enjoy socialising and meeting new people
- Be able to offer practical help and support to the Walking Group Lead
The Walking group s every Friday during the Spring and Summer, from 10am to 12noon and takes place at local Tameside parks and countryside.
You will need to meet the group at the start of the walk, which is organised in advance.
Research shows that walking is one of he best forms of physical exercise for older people, with lots of health benefits. It can be performed at low or moderate intensity, it's easy on joints, it has a low risk of injury, and you don't really need any expensive equipment.
