Wellbeing is about knowing how you feel, making sure you check in with yourself, allowing you to recognise how you are feeling throughout the day. Taking care of your mind and body.

Mindfulness is being fully aware of these feelings and thoughts that happen in any given moment, without being distracted by what is going on around you.

Through this page we will be sharing hints, tips, and advice on wellbeing and mindfulness.

Becky's Update

Hi I'm Becky and I'm a Be Well Worker here at Age UK Tameside, and I find when I need to relax, how I am going to do it, relies on the weather.
If it’s a nice day and I can go outside to tend to my garden, and do some weeding or planting. I like to listen to the birds as we have a lot of trees surrounding our garden and listen to my neighbour’s fountain.
I also like to feel the soil in my hands and watch the insects go about their life.

If it’s a bad weather day, I like to complete word searches either on the internet or in a book, while the fire is on with a cup of hot chocolate

Vikki's Blog

My name is Vikki-Rose and I work in the Get Up and Go team. One of my most favourite ways to relax is by making something. I had always wanted to learn crochet and about 15 years ago I began watching some YouTube tutorials on how to crochet. The first big project I worked on after learning to crochet was a blanket for a friend’s child. The more I worked on it the more my mind would wander, and I found that I was not thinking about anything other than what I was making. In this way it has helped me to destress after a long day. I also find that giving my creations to people has more meaning to them than if I just bought them something. Another way I have found that I like to relax is planning in my planner. I use stickers and make the pages look pretty. I like to plan my week out. I find that it helps to get things my head and on to paper, by allowing me to destress. By using this creative outlet to destress it helps me to switch my mind off and relax

Faith-Joanne Blog

My name is Faith-Joanne and I'm Services Director at the charity, I find the best way for me to relax is to spend time with my dog having a cuddle, playing together and spending time outdoors. My job is very busy and it can be difficult to switch off but looking after my pet makes me focus on them. We both enjoy going out for long walks especially with all of the great green spaces in Tameside. I meet so many people and their pets and get to exercise too. So combined it really helps me to relax, reduce stress, lift my mood and stay connected in my local community.
