1. Distraction Burglary

There were 13 recorded incidents of burglary/distraction burglary last month. The recent hot weather has created a chance for criminal opportunists to take advantage of unattended open doors and windows.

Tips to stay safe

  • Ensure that ground floor windows and back/front doors are kept closed and locked when a room or area in your home is unattended.

 2. Domestic Violence

There were 22 recorded incidents of domestic crime involving older people last month. This included 11 incidents involving arguments between grandparents/parents and children/grandchildren.

Domestic abuse takes many forms including (but not limited to) physical, sexual, emotional, psychological and financial abuse. It also includes digital abuse (using smartphones and social networking to harass and intimidate).” Victim Support 2016
