Bake Sale & Open Day

Published on 18 October 2019 02:21 PM

On Wedneday 16th October 2019, our dedicated staff and volunteers dusted off their aprons to bake over two hundred cakes for our charity bake sale and open day in Workington.

Members of the public, councillors, health care professional and other local charities were invited along to the event to buy cakes and find out more about the services we offer. We even received special visits from Janet King the Mayor of Workington, and Marion Fitzgerald the Leader of Allerdale Borough Council.

The event raised £410 to help support our services for older people in the local community.

Chief Executive Officer, David Hole, commended staff and volunteers’ teamwork and effort: “Enormous praise is due to staff and volunteers for their involvement in the Bake Sale & Open Day. Whether they baked a cake, ran an information stall or advertised the event, they all helped make the day a huge success”

Chair of Trustees, Anne Prowse, also praised the event: “It was great to see so many friendly faces at the Bake Sale & Open Day. Events like this one are a great way to raise awareness about the wide variety of services we offer to local older people”.

All of the leftover cakes from the event were donated to Calderwood House, a local homelessness charity based in Egremont.
